Kolkata : Sri Lanka have roped in former English Batting sensation Ian Bell as Batting coach for England’s tour.
Bell has played in 118 Test matches and scored 7727 runs at an average of 42.69, with 22 centuries to his name. He has been one of the elegant english batter, specialising cover drive to a class apart.
“Sri Lanka Cricket appointed former England batsman Ian Bell as the âBatting Coachâ of the national team for the ongoing tour. He will start working with the team on August 16th and remain until the conclusion of the three-test match series,” SLC confirmed in a statement.
“We appointed Ian to bring in a person with local knowledge to help the players with key insights on the conditions there. Ian has a lot of experience playing in England, and we believe his input will help our team in this crucial tour,â said Ashley De Silva, CEO, Sri Lanka Cricket.
Sri Lanka will tour England starting from August 21 to September 6, comprising 3 Test matches.
Sri Lanka recently beat India in 2-0 ODI home series under interim coach Sanath Jayasuriya & will like to continue their good run in this series too.
