Dhaka: Indian U-19 women’s team tasted their second victory in SAFF Championship at Dhaka on Wednesday as they edge past Bhutan 3-0. Starting their match in a dominating way, the hard work and high-pressuring efforts put an early 7th minute opener for Sumati Kumari. The low cross from Amisha Baxla came in right where Sumati was, putting it behind the nets.

Indian defense stood strong as Bhutan tried to get its way through the game. India’s midfield was totally monitored by Priyangka Devi as in the 17th minute a right curled corner from the left got Shilky Devi’s header but went off target. A set-piece by Priyangka Devi from the free-kick placed at the edge of the box made its way into the nets as India kept on attacking and found their second.

The second half witnessed an attacking India putting pressure on the rival defense. The pressure paid off the Blues as a cross from Krishna Devi was put into the nets by Priyangka in the 53rd minute. Mariyammal booked the fourth one for India in the 58th minute. Lynda Kom had a couple of good chances to score but the Bhutanese goalkeeper produced some fantastic saves to keep her at bay. India to play hosts Bangladesh on December 17 at IST 2.30 pm.
