Goa: Odisha FC came from behind to beat SC East Bengal 6-4  in the 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL) at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama, Goa on Tuesday ( November 30). The match was a complete thriller as goals kept flowing from both ends, much the like the previous season fixture.

Darren Sidoel opened the scoring for the Kolkata side on 13 minutes. Raju Gaikwad delivered his signature long throw-ins into the box. But a mistimed clearance from the Odisha defence put the ball in path of Sidoel, who banged the ball in the top-right corner of the net.

Semboi Haokip and Daniel Chima also got into the scoresheet for SC East Bengal. However, goals from Hector Rodas, Javi Hernandez, Aridai Suarez and Isak Vanlalruatfela left the red and yellows on the losing side.

Hector Rodas, the former Levante player first headed home a long freekick delivered from Javi all because the SC East Bengal defenders failed to mark Rodas’ highly physical presence in the box. They again paired to give Odisha the lead. This time Javi took a corner-kick, which was headed into the net by Rodas, thus completing his brace.

Javi then scored on the 45 minutes mark, although he was given rest after the first half. Kiko Ramirez went offensive as match restarted after the half time mark. He brought in Aridai Suarez and Jonathas, with Mongil making way. There were three changes for the Kolkata side as well, at the hour mark. Chima, Mrcela and Amarjit were brought in.

The second half  began and brought in more nightmare for the Red and Gold with Aridai scoring a superb freekick, curling it past Suvam Sen to make it 4-1. Odisha were looking in command, when Semboi Haokip headed in a header from a ball by Mohammed Rafique. Isak then made it 5-2, as he received a  through ball and lashed it past Suvam.

Chima then too got his first two goals in SC East Bengal colours in the dying minutes of the game but Aridai scored for Odisha as the final blow was delivered. With this the ten-game thriller came to an end, keeping SC East Bengal still winless.
