Mumbai: MS Dhoni, who is already touching 40 but when it comes to giving his everything on the field, he never ever backs down. He wowed the fans for more than a decade now, with his batting exploits. Recently the legendary cricketer added another feather to his cap in his side’s second game of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign against Punjab Kings as he became the first player to play 200 games for Chennai Super Kings.

Asked about how he felt after achieving the milestone, he cheekily replied, “Makes me feel very old and it has been a very long journey. It started in 2008 – played in SA, Dubai, and back home. Never thought Mumbai would be our home. In 2011, the last time that we were happy with the Chennai wicket. Before that, there was spin, but it also helped fast bowlers,” said Dhoni during the post-match ceremony.

He also praised the Wankhede pitch: “We have a good pitch here. There is movement off the seam, bounce and runs. After the wicket was re-laid, we found it difficult to adjust to conditions. This is a very good wicket, but it depends on the conditions on that day. The ball moved today, but it didn’t swing around a lot. There was no dew and enough seam movement,” he added.

Dhoni, who has been with the franchise since the inception of the IPL in 2008 is the only player who has featured in all the 12 seasons CSK has played. Playing 176 games in the IPL and 24 matches for the side in the Champions League T20 tournament. The former India captain has also played 30 games for the Rising Pune Supergiant in the two seasons in 2016 and 2017 when CSK were facing suspension.

Chennai Super Kings registered their first win of the Indian Premier League 2021 campaign as they beat Punjab Kings by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK will play their next match against Rajasthan Royals on Monday (April 19).
