SA vs IND, 1st T20I : Sanju Samson’s ton helps India hammer South Africa

Durban, November 8, 2024 : India defeated South Africa by 61 runs at Kingsmead, Durban. Sanju Samson’s 107 (50) helped the Men in Blue to go 1-0 up in the series.

Batting 1st, Samson (107) took aggressive mode right from start despite losing Abhishek Sharma (7) early.

Although Samson didn’t get much help from other end, skipper Surya Kumar Yadav (21) & Tilak Varma (33) played vital cameos to help Samson get past 100 and India scored mammoth 202-8 (20). South African pacer Gerald Coetzee picked 3-fer to stop Indian Batters at other end.

Samson smashed his 2nd consecutive T20I ton, becoming 1st Indian to do so. His innings of 107 (50) included 10 sixes and 7 boundaries with strike rate of 214. This was also the fastest T20I ton against South Africa by an Indian Batter.

Coming to defend 203 runs, Indian bowlers wrecked havoc on South African Batters. Arshdeep Singh (1/25) and Avesh Khan (2/28) started off the proceedings removing skipper Aiden Markram (8) & Tristan Stubbs (11).

Indian spinners Varun Chakravarthy (3/25) & Ravi Bishnoi (3/28) trapped Proteas and bundled them for 141, thereby, India, winning by a margin of 61 runs.

Samson was adjourned the Man of the Match for his magnificent ton.

Both teams will meet each other on November 10, 2024 , at Gqeberha.
