Manchester: Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has urged to “dream big” as he shared a then and now image of him with Cristiano Ronaldo. The England international lined up alongside the Portuguese maestro who made his return to Old Trafford against Newcastle United on Sunday.

This came 18 years after the two first met at the club when Jesse was a youngster in the Red Devils’ academy and Ronaldo was in his early professional years. Videos of the 28-year-old, who was still a child at the time, observing Ronaldo demonstrate his ball-handling skills went viral.

Lingard joined United’s youth ranks at the age of seven, has posted an inspirational message on social media after turning out in the same senior side as Ronaldo.

“Dream big kids,” he captioned with a couple of pictures attached. The Englishman had a great loan spell last season with West Ham which saw him earning the trust of United manager Ole Gunner Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for this season. He stepped off the bench on Sunday in the second half before getting his name on the scoresheet, with a clinical finish in stoppage-time putting the icing on the cake in a 4-1 victory.
