Mumbai: Despite a narrow win in their last game, Punjab Kings will look to improve their performance when they meet Chennai Super Kings on Friday (April 16) in Mumbai. The Wankhede Stadium is known for high-scoring games and Friday’s match will also be no exception with Punjab particularly having more firepower.
Although Chennai have the upper hand going head to head, this year’s story has been a different one so far. The two sides had different outcomes in their opening game. Chennai were completely outplayed by Delhi Capitals even after scoring 188 with Suresh Raina and Sam Curran starring.
However, it was their bowling who looked clueless from start to finish with Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw smashing them all around the park. Deepak Chahar, Sam Curran and Shardul Thakur all went for big runs with the MS Dhoni’s captaincy being put into question.
As for Punjab, even after a narrow win in their last game against Rajasthan Royals, their side looked promising. Although their bowlers leaked runs towards the end, Punjab were right on the money in the starting taking crucial wickets.
KL Rahul’s form is the biggest positive for the side and is ready to give them a good solid start. The skipper scored a stunning 91 in the opening game to take the Punjab score in excess of 200. If their bowlers can hold their composure against the experienced batting line up of Chennai, they have good chance of settle the scores this time around.
