Chennai: It has been a trembling phase for Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After a disappointing show in their opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, the Chennai Super Kings skipper is now on the verge of getting banned from the tournament.

Dhoni played his first game after his retirement and post the IPL 2020 and was reportedly fined Rs.12 lakhs for Chennai’s awful slow over-rate in the match against Delhi Capitals.

As per rules of BCCI,  all the eight teams and match officials need to finish an innings of the matches within 1 hour and 30 mins and if any team crosses the maximum limit, then their captain would be thumped with an INR 12 Lakh penalty which happened with the former Indian captain.

However, there’s to it. The rule also states that if the captain repeats the offense once again in their next match, then as a two-timer offender could get banned and will have sit outside the pitch for the next two fixtures. Dhoni will have to be careful when his side comes out on the field to play against Punjab Kings on Friday making sure that he doesn’t suffer the penalty again or else his side will have to make tough decisions.
