Kolkata: IPL 2022’s most expensive uncapped player Avesh Khan earned his India debut against the West Indies in the third T20I at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.
He was given his maiden India cap by senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, as India followed its practice of allowing senior players of the squad to perform the honors during the team huddle for newcomers. In the three-match series, he became India’s second debutant, following leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who received his first cap from veteran player Yuzvendra Chahal in the first T20I at the same venue.

Khan was been picked by Lucknow Supergiants for 10 crores, making him the most expensive uncapped Indian player in IPL history. He debuted in the IPL in 2017, but only appeared in one game. He just became a regular on the Delhi Capitals playing XI in the 2021 season. The pacer finished second in the Purple Cap race last season with 24 wickets in 16 matches.
His cost has eclipsed the previous all-time high of INR 9.25 crore paid for an uncapped player, which was set in 2021 when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) picked Krishnappa Gowtham. Khan had a starting price of INR 20 lakh.
