Cuttack: Heinrich Klaasen smack a brilliant 81 that helped South Africa to chase a target of 149-runs. India were defeated by four wickets in the second T20I at Cuttack.
Aftee Bhuvneshwar Kumar derailed the Proteas’ line-up in the Powerplay, Temba Bavuma kept the scoreboard at pace with 35 off 30 balls.
Coming to bat first, team India endured regular blows to slump at 98 for five. The starting duo failed to put a big score, Ishan Kishan hit an attacking 34 and Shreyas gathered 40. Axar Patel went for 10, leaving India at 112/6.
Kagiso Rabada disciplined India at a low scoring rate and under control with his bowling attack. Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj sent Pant back in the pavilion. Hardik Pandya’s wicket off Wayne Parnell made India slip further. Rescuing in the end, Dinesh Karthik launched an attack in the final two overs. His unbeaten 36-run stand with Harshal Patel, who made 12 put India at a descent total of 148/6.
Winnig the game, the Proteas gained a 2-0 lead in the five-game T20I series.
