Munich: Kylian Mbappe’s brace along with a strike from Marquinhos helped Paris Saint-Germain beat Bayern Munich 3-2 in a thriller of a first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal in Munich on Wednesday (April 7). Eric Maxim Chupo-Moting and Thomas Muller gave a slight boost to the Bavarian side with a strike each however PSG still has the away goal advantage in their side for the second leg.

The visitors went ahead at the Allianz Arena just three minutes into game. Neymar started a quick counter-attack before laying it in the path of Mbappe who finished off after although Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer could have done better to save it. Despite the Bavarians controlling the majority of the half, Marquinhos extended the lead after meeting Neymar’s dinking cross into the box.

Bayern didn’t stop their pressing game and got one back through a Chupo-Moting header before Muller also found net with a header in the 60th minute from superb delivery by Joshua Kimmich. Keylar Navas had a great outing keeping the visitors in game with crucial saves. Bayern though could have done better especially in finishing after creating a lot of chances. The absence of Robert Lewandowski proved to be a key reason for that.

Mbappe scored the winner slotting it past Neuer into the bottom corner helping PSG gain an advantage when they meet for the second-leg next week.
