Durand Cup 2022: NorthEast United, Sudeva FC play for pride; Bengaluru FC face Mohammedan Sporting for top spot

Kolkata: NorthEast United to go against Sudeva Delhi FC at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. In the later part of the day, Bengaluru FC to face Mohammedan Sporting at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK), Kolkata. While NorthEAst and Sudeva battle for pride, Bengaluru FC and Mohammedan Sporting will fight to become table topper.

NorthEast and Sudeva looks for winning end

NorthEast and Sudeva are currently placed fifth and fourth respectively in Group D. To make it the best Sudeva can is to win and finish third in the group. Odisha FC and the Kerala Blasters have already qualified from there.

It’s a desperate situation for the NoirthEast United who have conceded 12 goals so far in the 131st Durand Cup. Only a win can save them the ignominy of finishing as the wooden-spooners in the group.

While Sudeva have held their own against the other teams in the group, NEUFC have looked completely out of sorts. The former therefore has the clear edge and will look to go back to their home base in Noida, riding on a win.

Kick-off: NorthEast United FC v Sudeva Delhi FC @ 3.00 pm (Sep 02, 2022)

Bengaluru and Mohammedan look to top table

Bengaluru FC and Mohammedan Sporting both have qualified from Group A for the knockout stages. However, the battle will be to claim the top spot in the group.  Mohammedan Sporting has the edge, given even a point will help them do that while Bengaluru FC will have to win to claim the top spot.

Both coaches will also not want to risk injuries to key players or even red-cards before the knockouts, so the first eleven they field will also be a tricky choice.
