End of an Era: Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid after 16 years

Madrid : Real Madrid has announced the departure of their club captain Sergio Ramos on Thursday (June 17). The club has also released a statement stating that a virtual press conference will be held prior to which  “an institutional act of tribute and farewell” will be held that will be attended by president Florentino Pérez.

Sergio Ramos joined the Madrid side in 2005 from Sevilla. He has won four Champions League, five La Liga titles and has also won a Club World Cup during his period with the club. The 35 year old defender has scored over 101 goals for Real Madrid in his 671 appearances.

After 16 years with the Los Blancos, Ramos decided to leave the club two weeks before his contract expires. Although the speculations have been going on for quite some time, but his next destination is still unknown. He has been heavily linked to Paris Saint Germain, Atletico Madrid and both the Manchester sides.
