
Caxias do Sul: Dhanush Srikanth and Priyesha Deshmukh of India won India’s fourth gold medal at the Deaflympics in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, on Saturday, defeating Germany 16-10 in the final of the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event.
It was India’s sixth Deaflympics 2021 medal. Unexpectedly, India has won five medals in shooting thus far, three of which are gold. Badminton took home the other gold medal.
Dhanush and Priyesha scored a total of 414.0 (209.6+204.4, respectively) in the two sets of shooting, leaving Germany’s Sabrina Eckert and Sebastian Herrmany in second place with a score of 408.7.

Dhanush’s second gold medal in the Deaflympics came on Friday after setting a world record in the men’s 10m air rifle event. Meanwhile, Priyesha finished fourth in the women’s 10m air rifle event, just missing out on a medal by a whisker.
