Caga Magica: Carlos Alcaraz raced into the Madrid Open final on Saturday, becoming the first man to beat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the same clay competition.
The 19-year-old Spaniard defeated Djokovic 6-7 (5/7), 7-5, 7-6 (7/5) in front of a sell-out home crowd at the Caja Magica to reach his second ATP Masters final in five weeks and record his first-ever win over a reigning world number one.
Alcaraz has a tour-best seven top-10 victories this season, and he enters Sunday’s final either Stefanos Tsitsipas or reigning champion Alexander Zverev on a nine-match winning run, having won in Barcelona only a few weeks ago.
He is the first player in 17 years to beat a world number one.
