IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans tame Lucknow Super Giants to enter playoffs

Pune: The Gujarat Titans (GT) qualified for the playoffs in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 62 runs. An unbeaten half-century from Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan’s fantastic four-wicket haul sealed a mammoth 62-run win for Gujarat Titans.

Lucknow Super Giants dismissed Wriddhiman Saha and Matthew Wade the powerplay. Gujarat Titans were 35-2 at the end of 6 overs. Shubman Gill played some exquisite shots for four. Hardik Pandya came and departed early off Avesh Khan. At the halfway mark, GT were reeling at 59-3.

David Miller and Shubman Gill stitched a steady partnership, but Jason Holder dismissed David Miller. Gujarat Titans were 117-4 with Gill crossing his half-century. Rahul Tewatia’s three crucial fours helped Gujarat Titans reach 144/4 in the first innings.

Chasing 145, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock were off to a cautious start with the bat. Quinton de Kock smacked a six of the innings but got caught off Yash Dayal’s bowling. Shami scalped the wicket of the Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper in the 5th over.

Gujarat Titans fell in trouble after Karan Sharma was caught. Rashid Khan struck immediately after after Krunal Pandya was out stumped. Wriddhiman Saha dismissed Ayush Badoni off Sai Kishore.

Gujarat Titans were 7 down, losing wickets of Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder. While Stonis was run-out, Rashid Khan scalped Jason Holder. Sai Kishore dismissed Mohsin Khan. Rashid Khan wrapped the innings with the final two wickets in the 14th over.
