Kolkata : Bengal iconic keeper Wriddhiman Saha and Batter Sudip Chatterjee set to join their home team after representing Tripura for 2 years.
Both are included in the list of probables for 2024-25 Domestic season.
They also represented Medinipur Wizards in the Bengal Pro T20 League inaugural edition last month.
“I’ve started my journey from here. Now that I’m back, I will try my best if I get an opportunity in the Bengal side,” Saha stated on Tuesday.
“I have not yet met the CAB officials, but went to the dressing room during practice and the colours of the chairs have changed. It looks different,” Saha stated.
However, the Siliguri boy said that he always followed Bengal cricket.
“I might have been out of Bengal, but Bengal cricket stayed with me. I always kept track of Bengal’s scores and how the boys were performing when I was in Tripura. I used to talk with the players too. Bengal were doing well. So if I get a chance in the Bengal team, I will try to help them continue their momentum,” the 39-year-old added.
Team mentor Laxmi Ratan Shukla is happy to get Saha back. “Wriddhiman Saha is a very special player; we have played a lot of cricket together over the years. So it’s great to have him back in Bengal,” the Bengal coach said.
Sudip Chatterjee is also happy to return home and lead the side in the new franchise league. “Wriddhiman is like an elder brother to me. We have played a lot of cricket together for Bengal and Tripura. And now it feels great to be playing together again,” he said.
Saha, however, tried not to get emotional and stay in the present. “I never looked at the past; I always lived in the present,” he said.
Return of the experienced guns in Bengal side will boost their confidence.
