CWG 2022 Day 3 Highlights: Kolkata-born Achinta Sheuli wins third gold for India

Birmingham : India move to top 6 with 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze in Commonwealth Games 2022 medal tally. After completion of day 3 in Birmingham, Indian athletes are looking good and are advancing themselves in the next round of their respective events.

The day started well for India, as Jeremy Lalrinnunga bags second gold medal for India in the Men’s 67 Kg weightlifting. Indian Men Hockey Team start their journey comfortably after beating Ghana 11-0 in their first game. While in cricket, after loosing the first game against Australia, Indian Women cricket team thump Pakistan Women by 8 wickets and keep them in the hunt for the medal. Badminton, Squash all are advancing themselves in the next round.

But India’s third gold come at the later part of the day 3, where Achinta Sheuli won the mens 73 Kg in weightlifting with a commonwealth games record total lift of 313 Kg.

On Monday (Day 4), India eye their medal hopes with Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghoshal, Indian Badminton team will be in the action. While weightlifters and boxers will carry their medal hopes high in Birmingham.
