Six Indian Super League players test positive for COVID-19

Panaji: Six Indian Super League players have tested positive for Covid-19, according to a TOI report. The players are from ATK Mohun Bagan, FC Goa and Hyderabad FC. According to the rules of ISL, these players have to isolate themselves for 14 days, in accordance with local government guidelines.

Out of these two players, who have already recovered, have been given green light to train with their team, whereas the other four would have to wait and till then stay in isolation.

In accordance to the guidelines issued by ISL, the players have to take three tests on day 10, 12 and 14. They could only travel to Goa if the results of day 12 and 14 comes out to be negative. Furthermore, they have to share the fitness certificate to travel, with the league committee.

While the likes of ATK Mohun Bagan, FC Goa and Hyderabad FC deal with their players testing positive for the virus, Bengaluru FC would be travelling to Ballari, their training centre as their home players have all tested negative for the third test. The outstation players will join them in the later stage.

Kerela Blasters, have also started testing their players and the first test results were negative. The players from Kerela will travel to Goa by bus, others do not have a viable option than taking a flight. Although the rules of isolation are different for travelling by bus and by flight.

Teams like Jamshedpur FC, Chennaiyin FC, Odisha FC, Mumbai City and NorthEast United FC did not start testing their players as they are waiting for further instruction so that they can schedule their test dates, to match the guidelines. “The third test has to be timed in such a way that it’s less than 48 hours before the player reaches Goa. We should start the tests later this week,” said one of the club official.
