Manchester: Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi failed to deliver as Paris Saint-Germain were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Belgian champions Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Manchester City routed RB Leipzig 6-3 with new recruit Jack Grealish scored one and assisted one engineering the victory. Another English club Liverpool eked out a 3-2 victory against AC Milan, thanks to a Jordan Henderson late winner.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid edged past Inter Milan in a 1-0 victory courtesy of a Rodrygo strike. Debutant Sheriff Tiraspol from the Moldovan league won 2-0 against Shakhtar Donetsk from neighboring Ukraine.

The MNM trio was on the field for good 50 minutes but failed to create a spark as Brugge players were at their rock-solid best in defence. The scores could have been different had not Messi hit the crossbar in the first half.

It was low-key Ander Herrera who opened the scoring for PSG. However, the lead was cancelled by Hans Vanaken on 27 minutes. PSG face English champions Manchester City on September 28.

Meanwhile, it was raining goals at Etihad Stadium. Nathan Ake opened the scoring for the Citizens on 16 minutes followed by an own goal from Nordi Mukiele. Riyad Mahrez, Grealish, Joao Cancelo and Gabriel Jesus also found their names on the scoresheet for City.

Christopher Nkunku all the goals for the German side but it was yet nowhere near sufficient as they conceded six goals. Leipzig were down to 10 men for the last 11 minutes as Angelino was sent off.

In a dramatic encounter between AC Milan and Liverpool, Fikayo Tomori’s own goal put the Reds ahead. Mohamed Salah missed a penalty soon after but the match ended in their favour when he scored in the second half, with the winner from Henderson. Ante Rebic and Brahim Diaz scored for Milan.

Elsewhere, Sébastien Haller scored four goals on debut as Ajax hammered Sporting Lisbon 5-1. Steven Berghuis scored the fifth with a solo effort for Ajax. Paulinho netted the only goal for Sporting Lisbon.
