Dubai: New Zealand will take on arch-rivals Australia in a Trans-Tasmainan final of the T20 World Cup 2021 on Sunday in Dubai.

Kiwis have reached the final for the first time in T20 World Cup and will be dreaming of lifting the cup while Aussies who have been runners up 11 years ago will look to go on step further add the only remaining limited overs International trophy in their cabinet.

Both the sides a lot of simiar things in their journey to the final. From losing a game in the Super 12 stages to eliminating two of the pre-tournament favourites in the semi-final.

The Blackcaps had a stellar outing against England in the semi-final with some phenomenal batting display from Daryl Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham to overturn their fortunes.

Australia too faced the similar situation in their semi-final clash as well against Pakistan. Needed 22 off the last two overs, Mathew Wade smashed a trio of sixes off Shaheen Afridi to set-up a thrilling victory of the Aussies.

A Major concern for the Kiwis is the absence of Devon Conway due to a hand injury while Australia has everyone fit and fine to lock horn with their noisy neighbours.

Kane Williamson has guided his side to their third consecutive final of an ICC tournament however, this time he will look to be at the podium with the trophy in his hand. Also, New Zealand will look to avenge their defeat in the final of the 50 over World Cup six year ago in this game. Williamson alongside his colleagues Tim Southee and Trent Boult were in that side as well.

Australia on the other hand, showed their hard as nails character on the big game again showing everyone why they are considered such a formidable side in the knock-outs. Star opener David Warner’s return to form is a major boost for the side leading the charge of the batting line-up while in Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade, Aussies have a pair who could take on even the best of the best bowling units.

The two Key Battles:

David Warner vs Tim Southee

Warner’s swashbuckling form in the tournament is the key behind Australia’s journey into the final. The southpaw had a great in the semifinal as well. However, a tough challenge ahead of him from New Zealand is Tim Southee who has that uncanny ability of moving the ball away from the left-hander with Warner also being unable to tackle him in the recent past as well. Despite that, The Aussie superstar has clobbered 236 runs under his belt in the last six games while Southee packed eight batsmen for home in this tournament.

Kane Williamson vs Adam Zampa

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson though scored just 131 runs in six games so far but everyone knows how he always turns up when his side need him the most. The Kiwi maestro will be up against Australia’s Adam Zampa who is has been consistent throughout the tournament. The leg-spinner’s knack of picking quick wickets in the middle overs is a threat to Kiwis considering their ability to play quality spin bowling.

In fact,Zampa is in the second-highest wicket-taker of this edition. Kane is probably the best batsman outside of the subcontinent that plays well against spin however he will look to be careful against Zampa.
