Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has opened up about current skipper Virat Kohli supported him during his last International comeback but it was Mahendra Singh Dhoni who told him that he was not in the plans of selectors for the 2019 ICC World Cup held in England.

“When I made my comeback Virat Kohli supported me. Had he not backed me then I wouldn’t have made a comeback. But then it was Dhoni who showed me the correct picture on 2019 World Cup and that selectors are not looking at you,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying to News18.
The 38-year-old, who retired from international cricket last year, was even excluded from the 2015 World Cup squad despite bagging the Player of the Tournament award the previous edition. “Till 2011, MS had confidence in me and he used to tell me that I am his main player. But once you return after battling such a big illness, the game obviously wasn’t the same as before,” added Yuvraj, who survived a long battle with cancer.

“And by then a lot of changes were happening in the team. So, you cannot pinpoint such things. You have to take the team forward, it’s a very personal call. If you start building relationships, the team will never progress. A captain’s focus should be just the team.”
Known for his big sixes and athletic efforts in the field, Yuvraj was one of the destructive match-winners India has ever produced. And who can forget his instrumental role in the 2007 T20 World Cup when he hit six sixes in an over against England’s Stuart Broad.
