Goa: Chennaiyin FC’s hope of getting into the top-four had been blown away by Hyderabad FC.
Csaba Laszloâs boys could not make it into a winner from the 1-1 scoreline at the PJN Stadium, Fatorda.
Chennaiyin got an early lead in the 13th minute. An inch-perfect free-kick from Anirudh Thapa made its way to Mohd Sajid Dhot. The defender headed it, leaving no chance for Laxmikant Kattimani. Â The Chennaiyin lads could not hold on their lead. A delightful cross from Asish Rai found Javier Siverioâs head. Siverio lept the highest to finish the ball, past Debjit Majumder.

Strong goalkeeping from both the sides kept the second half goalless. Chennaiyin put in some pressure in the added six minutes for a winner. It was of no use as the game ended all square. Hyderabad missed talisman Bartholomew Ogbeche in the attacking front. The leagueâs top-scorer served his suspension after conceiving four yellow cards.

As the second half marched in, Majumder had to make two crucial saves. Siverio and Edu Garcia came quite close dangerously. Both teams made some bluff chances to get the winner. There were very few clear-cut chances which went away. A thunderbolt from Ninthoinganba Meetel’s ricocheted off the bar and the rebound was a meek one.
The result moved Hyderabad to the third in the table with 17 points. Chennaiyin remained sixth having 15 points from 11 matches.
