Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced on Tuesday (August 11) that the Lanka Premier League (LPL) which was scheduled to start from August 28 has been postponed for three months. Earlier last month it was announced that LPL is hoped to resume at the end of this month with the participation of 70 international players.

“We asked for a three-day quarantine period, but the health authorities insisted on 14 days,” an SLC cricket official told AFP. “Under those restrictions, it is not feasible to hold the tournament this month.”

In a statement issued later Tuesday, SLC said the series will now be scheduled in November but did not give a timetable for the matches. The tournament was planned to be held at four international venues.
