Pune: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made their 6th victory in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 54 runs. Andre Russell put on an all-round show to score a blistering 49*(28) followed by a three-wicket haul.

Umesh Yadav and Sam Billings were named in the eleven for Kokata Knight Riders. Ajinkya Rahane started with a maximum but KKR lost Venkatesh Iyer against Marco Jansen. KKR were 55/1 at the end of the powerplay.

Umran Malik scalped two wickets in an over to dismiss Nitish Rana and Ajinkya Rahane, with Shashank Singh grabbing excellent catches. Skipper Shreyas Iyer creamed two fours but Umran Malik claimed his third wicket. Kolkata Knight Riders went 5 down after Rinku Singh was trapped LBW by Natarajan.

Andre Russell marched in with a four and six. Billings hit consecutive fours at the other end against Malik. The fifty partnership was up for the sixth wicket off 39 deliveries. Billings went out in the penultimate over against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Andre Russell hammered 3 sixes in the final over to reach 177/6.

Sunrisers Hyderabad openers – Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma were off to a steady start. Andre Russell rattled the stumps of Willianson inside the powerplay. SRH were 31/1 at the end of 6 overs.

Sharma advanced with his start to dispatch consecutive sixes against Narine. Tim Southee managed a brilliant catch off his own bowling to dismiss Tripathi. Aiden Markram joined Abhishek Sharma at the crease as Sunrisers Hyderabad were 66-2 at the halfway stage.

Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed the well set Abhishek Sharma. Narine took a catch off his own bowling to dismiss Nicholas Pooran. Markram dragged Umesh Yadav’s delivery on to the stumps before he dispatched three sixes.

Russell dismissed Washington Sundar and Marco Jansen in the penultimate. Southee scalped his second wicket to dismiss Shashank Singh in the next over, Sunrisers Hyderabad fell 54-runs short of the total.
