Kolkata : Former Indian World Cup winning captain and 5-times IPL winning Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has hinted on his IPL career longevity and retirement.

Dhoni’s retirement speculations 

Over past 3 years, Dhoni’s IPL career end has generated wide speculations among fans as well as experts. Dhoni, known for taking sudden decisions without any hype is hardest Cricketer to predict.

It was thought that Dhoni would retire after dismal exit of CSK in IPL 2020, but he came back stronger winning 2 IPL cups with tremendous Batting and leadership forms in 2021,2023.

After IPL 2023 win, all thought he would retire on high note. However, he said he will be available in 2024 IPL.There were wide speculations regarding his retirement in this season.

However, as per reports, the legendary skipper might be featuring in IPL 2025 as well.

Dhoni opens up about his IPL career future 

Although there’s no clarity regarding Dhoni’s participation in IPL 2025 , he attended a promotional event of CSK on August 1.

In an interview, addressing about his IPL career future, especially in IPL 2025 and retirement he said that it all depends on the number of retentions the BCCI will allow for each team ahead of the mega auction and that there is a lot of time for him to decide on his retirement. “There is a lot of time for it“.

We have to see what decision they take on player retention etc. Right now, the ball is not in our court. So, once the rules and regulations get formalised, I will take a call, but needs to be in the best interest of the team,” Dhoni said while responding to a fan.

Dhoni’s inclusion in IPL 2025 squad will be vital for a newly set up CSK team keeping in mind the success plans in long run. However, an official decision awaits.
