Barcelona :FC Barcelona snatched a victory away from Valencia CF returning to La Liga after the international break. The Catalans won the match by 3-1, inspite of trailing by a goal within the opening five minutes of the game at Camp Nou.

Jose Gaya gave the visitors a lead with a stunning shot, leaving Marc Andre Ter Stegen with no chance at saving the shot. Valencia took a step front, as things looked bad again for Ronald Koeman’s men. Although FC Barcelona’s new No.10 rose to the occassion and proved why he was the chosen one after, Leo Messi left.

On 13 minutes Ansu Fati equalised after a one-two play with Memphis Depay, the new No.10 of Barcelona curled a beautiful shot past Jasper Cillessen, the former Barcelona keeper. Although Gaya conceded an important penalty on 39 minutes after fouling Fati. Depay scored from the spot and gave his team a much needed lead.

Koeman who was already under pressure after consecutive disappointing performances from his team, has been relieved after the very important three points as the much awaited El Clasico is around the corners. The players and the coach attained the much needed confidence.

The two goal lead was further extended to three  by Philippe Coutinho who came on as a substitute for Ansu Fati in the second half. Coutinho scored his first goal for FC Barcelona since November 29,2020. The second half also saw the debut of Sergio Aguero, who came for the final few minutes and was welcomed by the Camp Nou crowd with roaring cheers.

Barcelona will next play Dynamo Kiev in Champions League, again a must win match for Ronald Koeman and co. to be the in the race for qualifying in the next round of UCL.
