Goa: ATK Mohun Bagan and Hyderabad FC played out a 1-1 draw in their Indian Super League encounter on Friday (December 11) in Goa. Manvir Singh scored the opener for ATKMB while Joao Victor equalised for Hyderabad FC.
The draw takes ATKMB to the second position in the league table with 10 points after five matches. Hyderabad moves to the fifth position with six points out of their four matches. The match started with a different tone as ATKMB played a different style of football. They were passing and creating positive attacking chances from the first minute.
Hyderabad on the other hand was playing the counter-attacking game and were losing out to the strong attack backline. Hyderabad goalkeeper Subrata Paul saved two genuine chances or else the scoreline would have been different for ATKMB in the first half.
In the second half, Antonio Lopez Habas brought in David Williams in place of Brad Inman who was struggling. However, it was Manvir, who broke the deadlock with a solo effort in the 54th minute. The joy was short-lived as Joao equalised from the spot 11 minutes later.
Both the teams created opportunities for themselves but failed to score, with two teams leaving the field happily. Habas will be happy with this draw as his lads are adapting to a different style of football. Hyderabad coach, Manolo Marquez missed his talisman Aridane Santana due to injury so this draw will make him feel happy as his side is still unbeaten this season.
