Durand Cup 2023 Semi Final : Mohun Bagan SG knock out FC Goa to book tickets in Final for Kolkata Derby

Kolkata : Mohun Bagan FC, with a scoreline of 2-1 eliminated FC Goa in the Durand Cup Semi Final, at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and set the stage for a Kolkata Derby against East Bengal in the final, for the 2nd time in this tournament. Jason Cummings and Armando Sadiku were the goal scorers , helping to pocket the important win.

In the 1st half, FC Goa began to look dominant with the Ball, breaching Mohun Bagan defence multiple times , but their rejoice came in the moment when their Moroccan striker Noah Sadaoui scored the opening goal in the 23rd minute, giving Goa a 1-0 lead, however, this lead was not long as Mohun Bagan were awarded a penalty due to a tackle by Jay Gupta on Ashique Kuruniyan. The Australian striker Jason Cummings scored the 1st goal for his team in the penalty, contributing to the equaliser, minutes before the half time.

In the 2nd half, the Albanian forward Armando Sadiku, coming in as a substitute scored the 2nd goal for Mohun Bagan from a distance, capitalizing Sandesh Jhingan and scoring the long range shot goal, bringing the scoreline to 2-1 , which remained throughout the match.

Mohun Bagan will be playing their final against East Bengal in Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium on 3rd September.
