FIH Hockey Star Awards 2024 winners : Harmanpreet Singh wins Best Player, PR Sreejesh clinches Best Goalkeeper of the year awards

Kolkata : The FIH Awards 2024 ceremony was held in Muscat, Oman on November 8, 2024. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Singh and former Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh bagged Best Player and Best Goalkeeper of the year award respectively.

Harmanpreet and Sreejesh were pioneers of Indian team in leading them to Bronze medals at Paris Olympics 2024. Where Sreejesh made important saves, Harmanpreet scored crucial goals for his team. He also guided India to Asian Champions Trophy Gold in September 2024 at China.

The Indian captain received a decisive 63.84% of the votes, including 13.57% from fans, 15% from the media, 40% from the expert panel and 15.27% from the national associations. Joop de Mol of the Netherlands finished second with 16.10% of the vote share.

This is Harmanpreet’s third FIH Player of the Year award, following consecutive wins in 2021 and 2022. Hardik Singh took the crown last year.

Sreejesh on other hand, announced his retirement after the Paris 2024 Olympics, won the Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third time with 62.22 per cent votes. He previously won the award in 2021 and 2022.

Yibbi Jansen of the Netherlands was named the women’s Player of the Year while Ye Jiao of China won the women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
