Dubai: The tagline of IPL translates to “Where talent meets opportunity”. Every year the IPL lives up to that promise and provides opportunity to a bunch of previously unknown talents. Let’s look at some of the new talents who may light up UAE this year with their skills.

#Devdutt Padikkal
Role: Batsman
Price: 20 lakhs
Team RCB

This promising uncapped talent already has feats like Highest Run Scorer in Vijay Hazare Trophy (domestic 50 overs tournament) as well as Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (domestic 20 overs tournament) last season under his belt. He will go up against the veteran wicket keeper Parthiv Patel for his opening spot. And images of Ab de Villiers donning his wicket keeping gloves from the RCB practice sessions suggest that he is ahead in the race.

#Ruturaj Gaikwad
Role: Batsman
Price: 20 lakhs
Team: CSK

He has been India’s Highest list A scorer in last 2 years. Although present in CSK’s squad since 2018 he never got much exposure mainly due to CSK’s settled batting order.
However, this year absence of stalwart Suresh Raina provides a unique opportunity to this young man to prove himself at no. 3.

#Ishan Porel
Role: Bowler
Price: 20 lakhs
Team: KXIP

Coming off a career-high domestic season, this right arm bowler is progressing from fast medium to fast with a rapid pace. As of now, he is set to share the new ball with his Bengal team-mate Mohammed Shami.

#Ravi Bishnoi
Role: Bowler
Price: 2 crore
Team KXIP

Dubbed as the next leg spin sensation from India, he was the highest wicket-taker at the 2020 Under-19 World Cup and has already created a buzz for himself with a heavy price tag of INR 2 Crores. Considering the only other front line wrist spinner in KXIP Squad is Murugan Ashwin, his place in first XI seems to be confirmed.

Player: Riyan Parag
Role: Batsman
Price: 20 lakhs
Team: RR

At 17, he became IPL’s youngest half-centurion last year. At 18 he is frontrunner for the RR middle-order spot. His 29-ball 43 against MI last year guided his team to victory. RR will be hoping for more of the same this year. Along with Ben Stokes, he will also have to fulfil finisher duties for RR.

#Yashasvi Jaiswal
Role: All-Rounder
Price: 2.40 crore
Team: RR

The leading run-scorer at 2020 Under-19 is set to make his IPL debut this year. And like Ravi Bishnoi, Jaiswal also has a high price tag. With Ajinkya Rahane out of the Rajasthan Royals setup he seems to be the opener of choice along with Englishman Jos Buttler.

#Priyam Garg
Role: Batsman
Price: 1.90 crore
Team: SRH

He captained the India U-19 side to runners up position in 2020 world cup. Now he will look to secure a place for himself in the SRH playing XI.
Consider the unsettled look of SRH middle order apart from Manish Pandey, Garg is likely to be featured in the playing XI.

#Abdul Samad
Role: All-Rounder
Price: 20 lakhs
Team: SRH

Abdul Samad holds the record for most number of sixes in last Ranji season. Thanks to his heroics Jammu & Kashmir almost ousted the mighty Karnataka in 2019 Ranji Quarter Finals. If SRH opts for the services of Kane Williamson instead of Mohammed Nabi, he might have to step up and play the role of finisher for SRH.

These are our uncapped players to watch out for in this season of the Indian Premiere League. However, we have no doubt that like every year, this year also, some young man the fans never heard of will stand up and claim the stage for himself.
