Chester-le-Street : England defeated Australia by 46 runs (DLS) at Riverside Ground to go 2-1 in the ODI series. English Skipper Harry Brook’s 110* (94) helped his side achieve the feat.
In 1st innings, Australia with help of Alex Carey (77*) Steve Smith (60) & vital knocks of Cameron Green (42), tailender Aaron Hardie (44) , Glenn Maxwell (30) posted 304 on board.
Chasing 305 runs, England lost both openers Ben Duckett and Phil Salt to Mitchell Starc on 11 runs.
However, a match turning 156 runs partnership between Harry Brook (110) & Will Jacks (84) brought England back into the game.
Liam Livingston (33) too added spice to the chase and brought the game in complete control.
On 254-4 (37.4) , with just 50 runs to win for England, rain stopped the game and the English side were declared the winner as they were 46 runs ahead as per DLS method.
Brook was adjourned the man of the match for his ton. Both the teams will meet at London on September 27 for the 4th Match of the series.
