Dublin: Eoin Morgan, England’s World Cup-winning captain in 2019, has announced his retirement from international cricket, effective immediately.
Morgan’s most recent international appearance came against the Netherlands earlier this month, when he recorded two straight ducks. The Irish-born cricketer experienced fitness difficulties ahead of the insignificant third ODI, pulling out with a groyne strain.
Morgan allegedly stated last year that he wants to play in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia and the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, but given his current form, many recent reports claimed that the English limited-overs captain will make a decision on his future on Tuesday, June 28.
As a result, the England Cricket Board (ECB) stated in a press statement that Morgan has announced his international retirement.

Morgan will be remembered as the greatest white-ball captain England has ever produced after being named full-time limited-overs skipper in 2014.
England also set two world records in one-day internationals under Morgan’s rule. The first occurred against archrivals Australia in 2018, when they amassed a massive 481/6, while the second came recently against the Netherlands (498/4).
Eoin Morgan scored 7701 runs in ODIs and 2458 runs in T20Is while appearing in 248 and 115 matches, respectively. He also played in 16 Tests for England, scoring 700 runs. His career, though, will be remembered for completely altering England’s white-ball cricket during the previous seven years.
It is uncertain who will be named as Morgan’s limited-overs successor for England, with star all-rounder Moeen Ali and wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler among the options.
