Kolkata : Two times World Cup winning Brazilian captain Cafu is in the city to play a charity football match. On the occasion of inauguration of Kolkata Police Friendship Cup, the match is being organised to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

While many were questioning about the timing of FIFA World Cup 2022 happening in Qatar. However, Brazilian star Cafu believes that the timing of this gala event might help some players and hence bring about a good performance following their in-form in club football.

Speaking at a press conference Cafu said, “Having the World Cup in November will be more attractive. When the World Cup happened in June, the players were tired. It’s only been a few months since the leagues have started, so the players are fresh and can play well.

Cafu said he was very happy to play alongside some quality defenders such as Maldini and Nesta but regretted that there were not any good full-backs now.

When asked if Brazil is going to be too dependent on Neymar in the Qatar World Cup 2022, Cafu said, “Brazil is not dependent on Neymar anymore. There are a lot of players like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Paqueta. These players are also capable of winning the Cup for Brazil.”

The match will be played among Indian legends like Leander Paes of Tennis, Manoj Tiwary from Indian Cricket team, and former footballer Alvito D’Cunha. The match will kick-off at the Mohammaden Sporting Grounds at 3:30pm tomorrow, 5th November 2022. The charity match will be played Bengal Peerless All Stars Eleven & Kolkata Police All Stars Eleven.
