Brisbane : Australia were all over Indian middle order on Day 3 of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, and were on verge of getting follow-on, however, Jasprit Bumrah and Akashdeep Singh saved India from the clutches.
India lost skipper Rohit Sharma (10) early for 74 runs. KL Rahul (84) & Ravindra Jadeja (77) added vital 67 runs partnership thereby saving collapse. Even after Rahul’s dismissal, Jadeja continued to counter Aussie bowlers and added another 53 runs partnership with Nitish Reddy before both fell prey to Aussie skipper Pat Cummins.
With score on 213-9 & India needing 25 runs to avoid follow-on, Akashdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah notched up valuable 39 runs partnership.
This partnership not only avoided follow-on but also probably saved India’s Test defeat. The day ended with Akashdeep’s iconic giant six to Pat Cummins.
India are now on 252-9, trailing by 193 runs.
