Kolkata: Tapan Memorial put on another all-round show to defeat East Bengal and stayed top of the table with 24 points from eight matches in Bengal T20 Challenge on Saturday (December 5) at Eden Gardens.
Chasing a target of 130 runs Tapan batters won the match comfortably by six wickets and 10 balls left to play. Tapan Memorial won the toss and decided to out East Bengal to bat first. EB opener Abhimanyu Easwaran (1) went back early while Shreevats Goswami (29) and Ranjot Singh Khaira (28) tried to resurrect the innings but Tapan bowlers kept things tight and continued to take wickets in regular intervals.

Sandipan Das bagged 3 while Tapan skipper Ramesh Prasad picked up 2 to restrict East Bengal to 129/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Sandipan said about the team’s momentum, “Each and everyone is doing their job really well. We have got a good momentum that we want to take forward and okay good cricket. Our bowlers are bowling very well, fielders are putting up good performances too.”
While chasing Tapan openers Koushik Ghosh (24) and Vikash Singh (23) gave them a good start while Kaif Ahamed (25*) and Shakir Habib Gandhi (25) ensured 4 points for the team with their patient batting. East Bengal stayed fourth with 12 points from 8 encounters.
