Goa: A goalless second half held to draw 1-1 between FC Goa and NorthEast United. Both the teams held a tight contest at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim.

An early delight from Hernan Santana put The Highlanders in lead. The free-kick snarled superbly in the 2nd minute. The 31-year old pinged the ball off the crossbar. The Spaniard left Dheeraj Moirangthem with no chance.

The game started frantically. The early push was just what NorthEast needed. Goa put in best efforts to settle down. They played more passes in the midfield. However, the Highlanders were not ready to rest with a single lead. Deshm Brown came dangerously to the Gaurs, beating two defenders. Surprisingly, he missed the target.

For the Gaurs, Jorge Ortiz was held responsible to deliver the goods. The Spaniard also got past Provat Lakra and sends a teasing ball inside the box. However, Mirshad Mishu averted the danger alertly at right time. NorthEast got a close call for the second as Brown and Suhair combined in. But the chance from the latter got deflected for a corner.

Goa took up the late pace. The equaliser for FC Goa came moments before the half-time. A corner from Alberto Noguera found Airan Cabrera unmarked. The Spaniard nodded to it in the 39th minute.

The second half witnessed fierce Gaurs. Ortiz and Cabrera combined brilliantly to keep NorthEast United defence on tenterhooks. There were chances few and far between for the Highlanders. FC Goa could not make the most of their attacking display tonight.

There were no goals in the second half. The rivals shared point. FC Goa moved up  to eighth place with 13 points from 11 games. NorthEast United remained 10th with nine points from 11 games.
