Bengal Pro T20 League 2024 draft featured over 450 cricketers

Kolkata : A total of 176 players were drafted from a pool of over 450 cricketers in the inaugural Bengal Pro T20 League draft at a glitzy ceremony at a city hotel on Sunday.

The players were picked by the 8 franchisees namely Sobisco Smashers Malda, Adamas Howrah Warriors, ServoTech Siliguri Strikers, Harbour Diamonds, Rarh Tigers Burdwan| Birbhum, Lux-Shyam Kolkata Royal Tigers, Murshidabad Kings & Kueens and Reshmi Medinipur Wizards.

The CAB Office bearers led by President Snehasish Ganguly, along with Vice-President Amalendu Biswas, Hony. Secretary Naresh Ojha, Jt. Secretary Debabrata Das, and Treasurer Prabir Chakraborty were present on the occasion. Also present were the Apex Council Members and Chairpersons of various committees.

Speaking about the draft, CAB President Snehasish Ganguly said: “The drafting process was very exciting. All the eight teams looked well balanced and competitive. I am looking forward to 17 days of pulsating cricket. The draft process once again shows the deep talent pool we have and the tournament will throw up new stars for the future.”

Also present for the occasion was former BCCI and CAB President Sourav Ganguly. He said the game had evolved a lot from the days he used to play. “The advent of T20 cricket has taken the world to a new level. We can see that from the IPL and other leagues. I hope the Bengal Pro T20 League will be hugely successful and new and young players will come up from this league who will represent the nation in future,” he said.

The lucky draws were done by CAB President Snehasish Ganguly after which the draft process began with the franchises actively selecting their teams with the help of their respective think tank led by the coaches, coaching staff and marquee players.
