Rohit Sharma vows to take India to glory in T20 World Cup 2021

Dubai: Recalling India’s triumphant run in the inaugural edition of the ICC World T20,  swashbuckling Indian opener Rohit Sharma asserted that his side will do everything it can to repeat history by winning the T20 World Cup 2021, which is scheduled to begin on October 17th in the UAE and Oman.

“Sep 24th, 2007, Johannesburg. The day when a billion dreams came true. Who would have thought back then that a relatively inexperienced, young team like ours would end up creating history!! It’s been 14 years since, we’ve come a long way, we’ve created many more histories, we’ve had our setbacks, we struggled, but it didn’t break our spirits. Because we never give up. We give it all!!!,” Rohit wrote.

A young Rohit, who was an integral part of Dhoni’s young Team India side that scripted history in the 2007 World Cup hosted by South Africa. The Indian vice-captain said that Team India will leave no stone unturned to rewrite history in the 2021 World Cup.

Rohit had played three matches in the 2007 T20 World Cup, remaining unbeaten in all three of his innings. He scored an unbeaten 50 against South Africa in a crucial Super 8 clash.  One of the finest batsmen in the history of white-ball cricket, vice-captain Rohit has amassed 2,864 runs in 111 T20 Internationals at an average of 32.54 with the help of four hundreds and 22 fifties. He is also the most successful captain in the history of IPL with five trophies to his name for the Mumbai Indians.

Earlier this month Kohli had announced that he will step down as the team’s skipper in the T20 format at the end of the upcoming World Cup in the UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14. The BCCI is yet to announce the new captain for the T20 team.
