Kolkata : As per reports, Indian all-rounder, 2 time World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh is in talks with Delhi Capitals for potential coaching role. However, an official confirmation awaits.
Earlier Yuvraj Singh was reportedly to replace Asish Nehra as Gujarat Titans head coach. However, Nehra is now likely to prolong his coaching stint with Gujarat Titans.
Therefore, Delhi Capitals have reportedly approached the former Indian all rounder for potential coaching role.
After Ricky Ponting’s exit as Delhi Capitals head coach, there were speculations about Director of Delhi Capitals and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly taking up dual role of director and head coach of the team, even Ganguly revealed it indirectly.
However, now things might turn with inclusion of Yuvraj in the coaching staff. Now it’s likely that Ganguly may be assigned some other roles or only remain the director of the team.
A report also revealed that DC are unlikely to have Ganguly in that position as he also oversees DC’s sister franchises, the ILT20 team Dubai Capitals and the SA T20 league side Pretoria Capitals.
Despite having no professional coaching experience, Yuvraj has groomed many Punjab Cricketers like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma.
Delhi Capitals saw a rough patch in last 3 seasons, failing to qualify for IPL playoffs. They haven’t won a title since 2008. Yuvraj also played for the franchise in IPL 2015.
Inclusion of Yuvraj Singh in the coaching staff might help them to change their fortune.
