Sao Paolo: Brazilian legend Cafu reiterated an argument often put forward by Brazilians. Cafu asserted that his fellow national team player Neymar Jr is ‘technically better’ than talisman Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Neymar is technically better than Messi, better than Cristiano Ronaldo, but he must assume the responsibility of a leader,” Cafu explained at the MARCA Sports Weekend event in Seville.
Neymar has seven goals and eight assists in his past nine World Cup qualifying games for Brazil.

Neymar came into limelight scoring the Puskas winning goal in 2011 against Barcelona in FIFA Club World Cup. Two years later Neymar signed up for Barcelona and started playing Messi. Although having quite good stint at the club, to get under proper limelight Neymar made a shocking move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain. However, it wasn’t of much use since he had to share his light with French wunnerkid Kylian Mbappé and later with Lionel Messi joining the same this year.
Speaking more on his statement Cafu also said that Neymar needs to work on his leadership skills if he has to take on the Ballon d’Or glory post Messi-Ronaldo era.
“One must dedicate themselves 100 percent to football, I’m not better than Neymar, but I am better than other right-backs because I dedicated myself to that. He [Neymar] has to become a captain.”
