After a series of disappointing performances in the World Cup qualifiers and AFC Asian Cup, India’s FIFA ranking has slipped to 124. This prompted the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to part ways with Igor Stimac, who had been at the helm for five years. Manolo Marquez’s first assignment –
AIFF announced Indian Football Team is set to participate in Intercontinental Cup 2024 in September. The tournament will be played from September 2-10.
This will be a tri-nation tournament, the participants are – 93rd Rank Syria, 179th Rank Mauritius. India, 124th Rank , previously won 2018, 2023 seasons are most successful team.
This year’s Intercontinental Cup will be hosted in Hyderabad, India and will be the first assignment of the newly appointed coach Manolo Marquez. He will start his journey as head coach with debut in this tournament.
Following the Intercontinental Cup, India will be featuring in Tri Nation tournament Vietnam and Lebanon in October. Vietnam and Lebanon are 116 and 117th Ranked respectively. This will be the 2nd Assignment for Manolo.
