Birmingham : Yuvraj Singh led India Champions started their World Championship of Legends campaign defeating England Champions by 3 wickets at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Robin Uthappa’s 50 (32) proved crucial in the narrow win.
Chasing 166 runs, India secured opening partnership of 62 runs with help of Uthappa (50) & Naman Ojha (25).
Despite english spinner Chris Schofield’s 4-fer rattling Indian middle order, Gurkeerat Singh (33*) , Irfan Pathan (22) helped India chase down the total after 19th over with a winning 6 over long on by Harbhajan Singh.
In 1st Innings, England, Batting 1st , stumbled to Harbhajan Singh’s 2/16 spell, however, Ian Bell (59*) , Samit Patel (51) , Owais Shah (23*) helped England reach 165-4 (20) .
