Trent Boult adds unique record to his name

Kolkata : Trent Boult has written his name in history books after winning SA20 2025 title for MI Cape Town last night.

Boult now becomes the first player in Cricketing history to win four T20 titles with four different teams of the same franchise (MI).

The left arm pacer was part of Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians team that won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2020, won the MLC (Major League Cricket) title with MI New York in 2023, the ILT20 (International League T20) with MI Emirates in 2024, and the SA20 2025 title with MI Cape Town on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Boult grabbed 2 wickets conceding only 9 runs in his 4-overs quota and received man of the match in final against Sunrisers Eastern Cape, playing crucial role in MI Cape Town’s SA20 2025 Title win, led by Rashid Khan.

The Kiwi pacer won his first T20 title with the MI franchise in 2020. In the final of IPL 2020, where Mumbai Indians played against Delhi Capitals at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on November 10, 2020, Boult picked up three wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Boult played 15 matches for MI in IPL 2020 and accounted for the dismissal of 25 batters to finish as the third leading wicket-taker in the season.

In the MLC 2023 final, which was played at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on July 30, 2023, Boult picked up 3 wickets for 34 runs in four overs to help MI New York restrict Seattle Orcas to 183/9 in 20 overs, thereby winning the match. In his first season with the MI New York franchise, Boult dismissed 22 batters in eight matches, which was the most by any player in the tournament.

For MI Emirates in ILT20 2024, Boult finished with 16 wickets in 12 matches (3rd leading wicket-taker). In the summit clash against Dubai Capitals on February 17, 2024, Boult dismissed two batters for 20 runs in four overs quota and helped his side win the title.

Apart from Boult, Kieron Pollard has won 3 titles for MI Franchise – Mumbai Indians, MI New York, and MI Emirates.

Boult is all set to play for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, he was bagged for 12.50 cr in IPL 2025 Mega Auction by the 5-times IPL winning side.
