Tokyo: India’s lone equestrian at the Tokyo Olympics Fouaad Mirza finished 23rd in the jumping final of eventing on Monday missing out on a medal. Along with his horse Seigneur Medicott, the 29-year-old Bengaluru boy scored 59.60 penalty points overall.
Mirza, who is the first Indian equestrian at the Olympics in two decades, scored 59.60 penalty points after all rounds – dressage, cross-country, jumping qualifier and jumping final.
The gold went to Germanyâs Julia Krajewski and her horse Amande De BâNeville while Great Britainâs Tom McEwen (Toledo De Kerser) took silver. Australian Andrew Hoy (Vassily De Lassos) took bronze.
Meanwhile, India’s shooting campaign at the Tokyo Olympics ended without a medal for the second time as Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput failed to qualify for the finals of men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event on Monday.
Tomar finished 21st in qualification, with 1167 points in kneeling, prone, and standing, while three-time Olympian Rajput finished 32nd with 1157 at the Asaka Shooting Range.
