Steven Gerrard returns to English Premier League as Aston Villa head coach

London: Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard makes a return to the Premier League as the coach of the Aston Villa side replacing Dean Smith who had coached the side for three side.

The former Liverpool skipper emerged as a potential candidate , after having an amazing stint with the Rangers in the Scottish league taking them to the Scottish Premiership League title after displacing Celtic who has been winning it for last nine year.

“Aston Villa is a club with a rich history and tradition in English football and I am immensely proud to become its new head coach.” said Gerrard putting pen to paper.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everybody associated with Glasgow Rangers for giving me the opportunity to manage such an iconic football club.”

“Helping them secure a record-breaking 55th league title will always hold a special place in my heart. I would like to wish the players, staff and supporters the very best for the future.” added the former Captain expressing his earnest gratitude to his former club.

However, Gerrard is set to take on the English side for the first time against Brighton. Aston Villa currently sit at the 16th position, closer to relegation. Although, it will be a difficult job to reach top four, but with the experience of Gerrard as player and a coach, they can hope for a revival.
