New Delhi: Just a few minutes after former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni announced his retirement, his Chennai Super Kings teammates Suresh Raina also announced his retirement on August 15 (Saturday).

Fans have been speculating why both of the cricketers made this massive announcement out of the blue on the same Saturday evening. Some fans have linked Dhoni’s retirement declaration timing with the time of India’s defeat in the 2019 World Cup semifinal against New Zealand.

Interestingly, one Twitter user pointed out a startling coincidence between the jersey numbers of Dhoni and Raina with India’s Independence Day. Dhoni used to wear no.7 jersey while Raina had no.3 on his India t-shirt. India celebrated its 73 years of Independence Day on August 15. And both the cricketers decided to quit the game on the auspicious occasion.

The Tweet received much attention from the netizens even Raina has retweeted the tweet posting the emoji of the Indian flag. However, Dhoni and Raina would continue to entertain his fans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where they will play together for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) which will be held in UAE this year from September onwards.
