Kolkata : BCCI has announced 15 men squad for Asia Cup 2025,which is set to start from September 9, led by Surya Kumar Yadav. Shubman Gill has been appointed as vice captain and Jasprit Bumrah has made his return to T20I squad for first time since T20 WC 2024 final.
Defending champion India will be without the services of legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja as they announced T20I retirement last year after winning T20 WC 2024.
The young bunch of T20I team has proved themselves as match winners and fearless in recent past.
Led by Surya Kumar Yadav, the Batting order will see return of Shubman Gill as vice captain. Recently he was appointed as new Test skipper, leading the team to historic 2-2 tie in England.
Explosive top order Batters like Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson are also added to the squad. The middle order is strengthened by big hitters with likes of Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel.
The pace department is strengthened by veteran Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana. If needed, Shivam Dube can also roll his arms as medium pacer.
The spin department comprises Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy, and part timer Abhishek Sharma.
The likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sunda, Yashasvi Jaiswal, etc are ignored.
India will face UAE, Pakistan and Oman in Group stage.
