Kolkata : East Bengal defeated Mohun Bagan 2-1 in Durand Cup 2025 semi final and advanced to semi final by knocking out their Bengal rivals.
Dimitri Diamantakos scored in both halves, and his brace proved pivotal in Red and Yellow brigade’s historic win.
East Bengal’s new Palestinian recruit Mohammad Rashid had to return to his country ahead of the derby in middle of Durand Cup since his father passed away.
In post match press conference, Saul Crespo dedicated the iconic win to Rashid whom East Bengal missed. Crespo, Kevin Sibille and other East Bengal players even displayed Rashid’s jersey in post win.
Crespo said, “We (East Bengal) are with him (Rashid) , and we dedicate the win to him and his family”.
East Bengal will now face Diamond Harbour in semi final of Durand Cup 2025.
