Sergio Ramos to undergo knee surgery; likely to be out for six weeks

Madrid: Amidst rumours of leaving Real Madrid, captain and defender Sergio Ramos is set to have surgery to repair his left meniscus and is reported to miss around six weeks recovering and rehabbing from surgery.

Ramos missed Los Blanco’s last four games because of the injury, but the club never published a medical report on the matter as well. The defender even managed to train with the rest of the squad earlier this week. However, it seems now that the pain on his left knee is serious enough, resulting in him going with the surgery.

The defender is rumoured not to have signed a contract extension with the club and his current deal expires next summer, so this is major news considering that he will now be forced to miss an extended period of time.

Madrid would likely want to see him back on the pitch before making a decision about his extension as well, but Ramos is about to miss the upcoming clash against Atalanta in the Champions League’s Round of 16 to be held in the next few weeks.
